I adore canopy beds. They’re simply so romantic and beautiful.

Here are ten stunning bedrooms,  all with canopy beds – sure to make you swoon.

DESIGN BY KARA CHILDRESS INC.
At a home in Texas, a lit la polonaise draped with a floral fabric anchors the daughter’s bedroom; the Louis XVI marquise is upholstered in a Rubelli fabric, and the carpet is by Stark.

A Swedish-style bedroom in a Florida home by John Stefanidis features a circa-1900 French tub chair and a fanciful chintz bed canopy.

DESIGN BY BILHUBER AND ASSOCIATES
In a Manhattan bedroom designed by Jeffrey Bilhuber, the canopy bed is curtained in a Rogers & Goffigon fabric and dressed with embroidered linens by E. Braun & Co.; the homeowners picked up the inlaid wall bracket on a trip to Istanbul, and the handwoven abaca floor covering is by Beauvais Carpets.

DESIGN BY FIFTH EARL OF DUMFRIES
The State Bed was the most expensive piece of Thomas Chippendale’s commission for Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland. Chippendale added its design to the 1762 edition of his book The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker’s Director.

DESIGN BY  MARIO BUATTA
Men protest canopy beds, says designer Mario Buatta, who used one in the master bedroom of a 1930s Houston home, “but then they get in one, and they love it.” The open-arm chair is from Hyde Park Antiques.

DESIGN BY MICHAEL CLATTENBURG

For a guest room in a Dubai villa, designer Michael Clattenburg designed a pair of single beds “offset from each other” with canopies “that accentuate the height.” The wall covering depicts rows of bookshelves.

DESIGN BY BUNNY WILLIAMS INC.
Commanding a Virginia master bedroom designed by Bunny Williams is an intricately carved four-poster custom made by Christopher Hodsoll after a 1750 design; the canopy comprises silks by Old World Weavers and Claremont, with trim by Scalamandré, and the headboard features embroidery by Penn & Fletcher. The wallpaper is by Gracie, the 19th-century bench is from Newel, and the wool carpet is by Beauvais.

DESIGN BY MARIO BUATTA
The master suite in a Southampton, New York, home stars a custom-made bed accented with linens by Pratesi and a coverlet by D. Porthault. The floral curtain-and-upholstery fabric is by Brunschwig & Fils, a Manuel Canovas striped print lines the walls, and the carpet is by Stark.

DESIGN BY ALISON SPEAR
A bedroom in a Dutchess County, New York, home features quilted coverlets by Schweitzer Linen. On the wall are 1850s portraits of the owner’s ancestors.

JOY DE ROHAN-CHABOT’S TRADITIONAL BEDROOM
